between slow down time and new projects

I’m sitting in front of the fireplace, trying to get warm. this morning I woke up to a thin layer of snow, gray skies and low beautiful clouds almost touching the lake.

these last few days after New Year’s Day have been a bit strange: a mixture of relaxing time and “let’s start new things right now” time. I’m still craving for hours spent reading, long walks and slow me time, but at the same time I really want to get started working on all the new projects I have in mind for the new season. How do you feel about this? Are you back to normal days or still lingering on slow time? how do you motivate yourself after a few days of holiday?

I’m trying to do a bit of both! until I will feel ready to go back to it. this morning I went for walk after the post office run (first orders dispatched in 2016), I had a nice simple meal, caught up with some blogs I follow and took a couple of pics for my shop. After this I’ll take out my sketchbook and I’ll work on some new illustrations and patterns.

  1. I felt the same! Enjoying the slower days spent with family and equally feeling inspired to start new projects and get going. I think that’s the point of holidays… to refuel and get reinspired for work… that’s why it’s so important for creatives to take a break :)

    • I agree Carolyn, breaks are very important, I know that even if sometimes I forget about it and just keep going

  3. I think it is important to ease gently in, and remember it is fortunate to be able to do it this way! I look forward to see what 2016 brings for you!
